Marketing to Women Through Workplace Achievements

Forbes contributor David DiSalvo recently released a preview of a large research project that he’s working on. The piece examines five traits of highly respected achievers in an organization. We’ve highlighted the more important points below, but if you want to read the full piece, it can be found here.

    Tempered Tenacity:
Respected achievers are tenacious in achieving their goals. They will find any and every way possible to solve a problem, short of negatively affecting others when it can be avoided. That’s an important attribute of this trait: respected achievers will always search for a method that doesn’t harm others, even if it takes longer to complete.

    Consistent Commitment:
An important trait of respected achievers is that they always do what they say they will do. No matter how much is on their plate, respected achievers complete every task that they agreed to do. They have shown the ability to work through adversity, so they can be trusted to complete difficult tasks. Respected achievers are also great partners for collaborative work, because they will always complete their share of the project.

    Soulful Pragmatism:
Respected achievers only use methods that work. As soon as it’s apparent that an approach isn’t working, they find another way to do it. Whether this means that the original approach is slightly tweaked or completely rethought, they get the job done. Similar to the section on Tempered Tenacity, respected achievers only use methods that are beneficial to all involved.

    Strategic Resolution:
While it’s a fact that things go wrong periodically, respected achievers don’t let a negative change of events get in the way of progress. Instead, they view them as learning experiences. These experiences can be implemented into their strategies from then on.

    Responsibility/ Ownership:
Accepting responsibility for a mistake or a failure can be difficult, but respected achievers always do just that. Whether it’s a personal failure or a team-wide failure, respected achievers know that it is important to take their share of the blame.
