Using Social Media for Marketing to Women and Men

Since the beginning of time, there has been a battle of the sexes, men v. women. Even the saying “men are from Mars and women are from Venus” says a lot about the difference (… or competition) between the two genders.

Social media is something that everyone uses, regardless of age, race or gender. A new survey found that 144.6 million Americans use at least one social networking site. But is there an unequal gender distribution going on in social media? Let’s find out.

According to an article from Mashable, women lead the top two social networks- Facebook and Twitter. In addition, women are posting more frequently on them than men. A somewhat surprising find is that women also lead online gaming by 60 percent with networks such as Zynga. Not to be outdone, men comprise more than half of both LinkedIn and Google+.
At the end of the day, women use social media networks far more often than men with an incredible 99 million more visits per month. Check out the infographic for more details on the statistics. Which social media site do you use most?
